MAGDALENE D'ANNIBALE

HAWLEY - Magdalene D'Annibale of Hawley, a former co-owner of the White Deer Inn in Hawley, now Settlers Inn, died Friday, May 26, 2000 at Cozy Corners Assisted Living Home in Seelyville. She was 80.

Daughter of the late Edgar and Clementine Woodmansee Stearns, she was born in Starrucca, PA. She was the widow of Joseph John D'Annibale.

She was a member of Queen of Peace RC Church in Hawley and a former member of the Tafton Fire Co. Auxiliary.

Survivors include three daughters, Judith Ann Myers of Hawley, Margaret Mary Strong of Hawthorne, CA and Barbara Ann Hilton of Lake Ariel; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

A prayer service was held at Teeters East Chapel in Hawley. The Rev. William B. Healey officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Newton, NJ.

FLORENCE M. ERHARDT

HONESDALE - Florence M. Erhardt of Honesdale, employed as a tipstaff and court crier for President Judge Robert Conway in Wayne County, died unexpectedly in a charter plane crash in Bear Creek Township on Sunday, May 21, 2000. She was 73.

Daughter of the late Bernard and Charlotte Dombowski Kashuba, she was born in Dickson City. She was the widow of her first husband, Joseph Barbini.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Honesdale. She had previously been employed as a bookkeeper at Owl Chrysler-Plymouth in Honesdale for many years. She played golf with the ladies league at Red Maples Golf Course.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard T. Erhardt; a daughter, Barbara Ruffalo of Guadalajara, Mexico; a stepson, Steve Erhardt of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Eugene Kashuba of Scranton and William Kashuba of Dallas, PA; three sisters, Pearl and Eleanor Novitski and Ann Zaleski, all of Scranton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Judy and a sister, Elizabeth Piasecki. Another daughter, Donna Marie Barbini-Cali, died in the same plane crash.

A Funeral Mass was offered in St. Anthony of Padua Church in Dunmore, PA. Burial was private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church in Honesdale.

RALPH FLOYD, JR.

HONESDALE - Ralph "Trav" Floyd, Jr. of Honesdale, owner of Walter Electric in Honesdale, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 21, 2000 at Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was 61.

Son of Adeline McConnell Floyd and the late Ralph Travis Floyd, Sr., he was born July 25, 1938 in New Rochelle.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist RC Church in Honesdale. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a certified electrical inspector. He was a member of the Protection Engine Company #3 in Honesdale and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and had served as a Honesdale Borough Councilman and as a member of the Honesdale Planning Commission.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Walter Floyd; his mother of Honesdale; three sons, Robert D. and wife Lori of Syracuse, James K. and wife Jill of Catasaqua, and Jeffrey W. and wife Tracey of Honesdale; a daughter, Bonnie Sue Werner and husband T.J. of Honesdale; a daughter-in-law, Christina of Honesdale; his mother-in-law, Mildred Walter of Tafton; and 15 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Daniel R. and a sister, Sandra Lee.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. John the Evangelist RC Church in Honesdale. Burial was in Dyberry Cemetery in Dyberry Township.

FREDERICK A. KOPFINGER

MILFORD - Frederick A. Kopfinger of Milford, a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper, presently employed at Milford Electric, died Sunday, May 21, 2000. He was 69.

Son of Frederick A. and Rose Sweeney Kopfinger, he was born in Lavelle, PA on February 7, 1931.

He was a U.S. Marine Veteran and was a member of the Pike County Agricultural Fair.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth C. Hissam Kopfinger; two sons, Frederick A. of Milford and David John of Washington, DC; two brothers, Franklin of Lancaster and Joseph of Tremont; two sisters, Rosemary Wall of Barberton, OH and Patricia Beenick of Alexandria, VA; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Hissam of Milford and Barbara Hissam of Bethlehem, PA; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, John.

Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church of Milford. The Rev. Benjamin Willis, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Milford Cemetery in Dingman Township.

WAYNE FRANTZ

HAWLEY - Wayne Frantz of Hawley, a certified public accountant with an office in Hawley, died Sunday, May 21, 2000 from injuries sustained in an airplane crash in Bear Creek Township in Wilkes-Barre. He was 65.

Son of the late Foster L. and Bessie Dotten Frantz, he was born in Rush Township, PA.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and was a member of Paupack Hills Golf & Country Club in Paupack and the Honesdale Golf Club in Honesdale.

Survivors include his wife, Alicia B. Embalzado Frantz; two sons, Michael Benjamin and Wayne Jr., both of Hawley; two daughters, Kim Frantz and Keri Frantz Reiss; and a sister, Edna Salladay of Colorado Springs, CO.

Prayer service was held at Teeters' East Chapel in Hawley. Cremation took place at the Maple Hill at Salem Crematory in Archbald, PA.

ANNE LAPOLT

SMALLWOOD - Anne LaPolt of Smallwood, a homemaker, died Friday, May 19, 2000 at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 83.

Daughter of the late James and Anna Foley, she was born June 7, 1916.

She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Monticello; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Smallwood-Mongaup Valley Fire Department and secretary of the Democratic Club.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Chack of Rock Hill; a daughter, Susan Buell of Memphis, TN; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Peter's RC Church in Monticello. Cremation was private.

LILLIAN P. MAYER

ELDRED - Lillian P. Mayer of Eldred, a retired secretary for American Express in New York City and a 14-year area resident, died Thursday, May 25, 2000 in Mercy Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 76.

Daughter of Raymond and Ludmiller Hircy Pawlowski, she was born February 3, 1924 in the Bronx.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert, at home; two sons, Russell of Whitestone and Bruce of Eldersburg, MD; a granddaughter, Jessica; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Shohola. The Rev. Michael Quinnan officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

EDITH RAYMOND McCLERNON

MONTICELLO - Edith Raymond McClernon of Monticello, a retired employee of the National Union Bank in Monticello and a longtime area resident, died Saturday, May 27, 2000 in Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 89.

Daughter of the late Charles and Jennie Gorman Raymond, she was born March 12, 1911 in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Thomas McClernon.

She was a member of St John's Episcopal Church in Monticello. She was active in their St. Elizabeth Guild.

Survivors include a son, James T.; four grandchildren, Sarah, Molly and Julia McClernon and Woody Feffer; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Raymond.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation was in Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh. Burial of ashes will be at the convenience of the family at Rock Ride Cemetery in Monticello.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

CHARLOTTE A. MURRAY

HAWLEY - Charlotte A. Murray of Hawley, a former music director for the Ritz Company Playhouse and a retired music supervisor for the Pearl River school system, died March 11, 2000 in Health Village in Schooley's Mountain, NJ.

Daughter of the late Robert and Catherine Chaddon Sampson, she was born in Powell, PA. She was the widow of J. Raymond Murray.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, National Teacher Honorary Society and Order of Eastern Star, Pearl River Gloria Chapter #649. While living in Tafton she was a member of the Hawley Women's Club and a volunteer at the Hawley Public Library.

A graveside service was held at Pine Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr., pastor of Hawley United Methodist Church, officiated.
