- Joseph Giglio of Monticello and Bay Ridge, a gourmet chef, died
Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City.
He was 49.
Son of the
late John and Marie Sabatino Giglio, he was born August 12, 1950
in Brooklyn.
Survivors include
three brothers, John of Binghamton, Louis of Seminole, FL and James
of Rock Hill; a sister, Roseann Walter of Barrington, RI; nieces
and nephews.
A Mass of Christian
Burial was offered at St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro. The Rev.
Robert Porpora officiated. Cremation took place in Cedar Hill Crematory
in Middle Hope.

HAWLEY - Albina
Kraker Hutter of Hawley, a former seamstress, died Friday, April
28, 2000 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, PA. She was 95.
Daughter of
the late Andrew and Agnes Kraker, she was born in Pittsburgh. She
was the widow of Anton Hutter.
Survivors include
a son, Walter of Lauda, Germany; nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass
was held at Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Hawley. The Rev. William
B. Healey, pastor, officiated. Burial was at Queen of Peace Cemetery
in Hawley.

E. JOHNSON
HAWLEY - Evelyn
E. Greene Johnson of Hawley, a housewife, died Friday, April 28,
2000 at home in Blooming Grove, PA. She was 88.
Daughter of
the late Florian and Edith Siddle Greene, she was born in Williamsport.
She was the widow of Samuel L. Johnson.
She was a member
of the Blooming Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include
a daughter, Jane Hoch Miller of Hawley; three grandsons, a granddaughter
and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services
were held at Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Douglas Rhine
officiated.

RUSSELL KNAPP
HONESDALE -
Elwood Russell Knapp of Honesdale, a 41-year employee of Camp Towanda
as caretaker and maintenance supervisor and a lifelong area resident,
died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at home. He was 62.
Son of Ethel
Brown Knapp and the late Russell Knapp, he was born in Honesdale.
He was the widower of Theresa Seidler Knapp.
He had worked
for the American Rope Factory in Honesdale and for S.J. Bailey and
Sons Inc.
Survivors include
two sisters, Betty M. Smith of Honesdale and Doris LaBar of Wyalusing,
PA; two brothers, Robert of Unadilla and Peter of Honesdale; nieces
and nephews.
Services were
held at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home in Honesdale. The Rev.
Paul McCauley, associate pastor of the Central United Methodist
Church of Honesdale, officiated. Burial was in Bolkcom Cemetery
in Rileyville, PA.

ELDRED - Efrosynva
Komar of Eldred, a retired seamstress, died Friday, May 5, 2000
in Orange County Residential Health Care Facility in Goshen. She
was 89.
Daughter of
the late Peter and Tatiana Koleda, she was born June 9, 1910 in
Novogroder, Belarus. She was the widow of Alexander Komar.
She attended
St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Glen Spey.
Survivors include
three daughters, Tamara Palylyk and husband Stefan, Nadia Kotlarow
and husband Valentin, all of Eldred, and Terry Christodoulous and
husband Nicholas of Rego Park, Queens; four grandchildren, Alexander
Kotlarow, Jaroslaw Palylyk and wife Alexandra, Julie Mulherin and
husband Danny and Eva Christodoulous; five great-grandchildren,
Roman, Tatiana and Stefan Palylyk and Shawna and Ryan Mulverin.
A Liturgy Mass
was celebrated at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in
Glen Spey. The V. Rev. Nestor Kowal officiated. Burial was in the
Glen Spey Cemetery in Glen Spey.

LARSEN
ROWLAND - Palmer
Larsen of Rowland, PA, a florist, formerly of Brooklyn, and a five-year
area resident, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000 in Honesdale. He was
57.
Son of the
late Leonard Gerhard Larsen and Agnes Kristiansen Larsen, he was
born in Brooklyn.
He was a member
of 59th Street Lutheran Church in Brooklyn and was past president
and life member of the Sons of Norway in Brooklyn.
Survivors include
a sister-in-law, Nancy Larsen MacDougall of Warwick; nieces and
nephews; an aunt and cousins.
Graveside services
were held at Rowland Cemetery in Rowland. The Rev. Elwood E. Mather,
interim pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church, officiated.

R. MEALIE
ROSCOE - Anthony
R. Mealie of Roscoe, a retired employee of IT&T in New York City
and a longtime area resident, died Monday, May 1, 2000 at the Seelig
Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 80.
Son of the
late Joseph and Pauline Fucci Mealie, he was born December 14, 1919
in Cadosia.
He was a U.S.
Army Veteran of World War II; a former member of the Italian-American
Club of Sullivan County; a communicant of the Gate of Heaven Church
in Roscoe and as a youth served as an altar boy at St. Aloysius
Church in Livingston Manor.
He was a former
employee of Arma Corp. in Long Island.
Survivors include
a daughter, Cathleen Ann of Florida; a sister, Dolores Quick of
Roscoe; a brother, Cosmas Patrick of Roscoe; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian
Burial was offered at the Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe. The Rev.
Alfred Croke officiated. Burial was in St. Aloysius Cemetery in
Livingston Manor.

COCHECTON CENTER
- Margaret Niessen of Cochecton Center, a housewife and a 68-year
area resident, died Sunday, May 7, 2000 at Ellen Memorial Health
Care Center in Honesdale. She was 92.
Daughter of
Bernard and Barbara Schmoll Keuter, she was born January 31, 1908
in Eschweiler, Germany. She was the widow of Frank Niessen.
She was a member
of Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church and its Rosary Society of Lake
Huntington; Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Sunshine Club
and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Survivors include
two daughters, Maria Meyer of Cochecton Center and Mildred Meyer
of Cochecton Center; a son, Fred of Pleasant Valley; two sisters,
Maria Thielen of Eschweiler, Germany and Ann Wickel of Aldenhoven,
Germany; a brother, Peter Keuter of Augsburg, Germany; a brother-in-law,
Msgr. Dr. Bernhard of Buenos Aires, Argentina; 11 grandchildren
and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased
by a sister, Elizabeth Joussen.
A Mass of Christian
Burial was held at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church in Lake Huntington.
The Rev. Thomas Jones officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery
in Narrowsburg.

ELDRED - Eugene
J. O'Neill of Eldred, a retired dynamite blaster for the Sullivan
County Dept. of Public Works in Barryville and a lifelong area resident,
died Thursday, May 4, 2000 in Community General Hospital in Harris.
He was 90.
Son of Eugene
O'Neill and Daisy O'Neill, he was born September 9, 1909 in Pond
Eddy. He was the widower of Helen Clouse O'Neill.
He was a member
of the Sullivan County Cooperative Extension.
Survivors include
a daughter, Mary O'Neill Adamek and husband Walter of Barryville;
a sister, Anna Brennan of Pond Eddy; two brothers, Francis of Hobe
Sound, FL and Charles of Hudson, FL; and a grandson, Terry Schlitter
of Winchester, VA.
Services were
held at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville. The Rev.
Evan Greco officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.

Ann Maguire Sardinelli of Hawley, formerly of Staten Island and
a 25-year area resident, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at Robert Packer
Hospital in Sayre, PA. She was 60.

the late Thomas Maguire and Margaret Metzendorf Maguire, she was
born in Staten Island.
She was a member
of Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Hawley.
Survivors include
three sons, Louis of Hawley, Frank of Staten Island and Thomas of
Toms River, NJ; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the
Resurrection was offered at Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Hawley.

at Northern Bradford Crematory in Sayre.

MANOR - Sarah Schwartz of Livingston Manor, the retired co-owner
of Schwartz Meat and Grocery in Livingston Manor where she was bookkeeper
and cashier for over 50 years, and a 75-year area resident, died
Friday, April 28, 2000 at the Seelig Division of Community General
Hospital in Harris. She was 84.
Daughter of
the late Abe and Rebecca Sabesin Boland, she was born June 18, 1915
in Montreal, Canada. She was the widow of Hym Schwartz.
She was a member
of the Livingston Manor Senior Citizens, Temple Agudas Achim and
the Ladies Aid Society of the Temple, all in Livingston Manor.
Survivors include
three daughters, Joan Ressler of Tucson, AZ and Donna Bills and
Hope Schwartz, both of Livingston Manor; a sister, Sophie Jacobs
of the State of Florida; a brother, Myer Boland of New Jersey; six
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were
held at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home in Livingston Manor.
Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiated. Burial was in Agudas Achim Cemetery
in Livingston Manor.

and Honesdale, died Thursday, May 4, 2000 at Samaritan Hospital
in Troy, PA. He was 82.

late Frank Theall and Ruth Smith Theall Stiles, he was born in Hawley.
He was a member
of Cole Memorial Baptist Church in Hawley.
Survivors include
his wife, Marie Theall of Cohoes; two daughters, Georgia A. Gawe
of Ballston Lake and Nancy L. Baker of Port Crane; three granddaughters,
Carrie Newhart of Atlanta, GA, Rebecca Rowe of Honesdale and JoAnna
Peck of Waymart; three grandsons, David Gawe. Jr. of Whitefish,
MT, Todd Baker and Derek Baker, both of Port Crane; seven great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews.

held at Teeters' East Chapel in Hawley. The Rev. Daniel Baker, pastor
of the First Baptist Church of Port Crane, officiated. Cremation
took place at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst.

Doris Thorne of Callicoon, a retired bus driver for the Sullivan

May 2, 2000 at the Grover M. Hermann Division of Community General
Hospital in Callicoon. She was 60.
Daughter of
the late William H. II and Eva M. Gerry Tesseyman, she was born
July 4, 1939 in Long Island.
Survivors include
her husband, Albert Thorne, at home; two daughters, Penny Lynch
of Greenville and Deborah Everly of Fort Smith, AR; a sister, Linda
Scott of Oceanside; two brothers, William Tesseyman III of Glen
Spey and Edward Tesseyman of East Rockaway; five grandchildren,
Dustin, Drew and Tyler Lynch and Kevin and Elise Everly; an uncle,
Edward Tesseyman of High Falls; nieces and nephews.
