Arson suspected in late night fire

SHOHOLA - Firefighters are pictured fighting a fire that destroyed a parked automobile at the Midtown Service Station in Shohola early Saturday morning.

Service station owner Harry Graber said the demolished vehicle, a four-door Chevrolet Corsica, had been parked at the garage lot for several months. Graber said the vehicle needed a new engine and Graber had not anticipated that it's owner, Gregory Giblin of Shohola, planned to replace the engine. "It was junk," Graber said, but added that it was the only car on the lot that had not been locked up.

State police quickly ruled the 12:45 a.m. fire a likely arson and state police fire marshals subsequently visited the fire scene on three separate occasions through Monday, Graber said.
