A Middletown man was arrested Wednesday, June 22 for robbery in the 1st degree. New York State Police at Middletown were dispatched to a reported armed robbery behind the Franco Di Roma restaurant located off Rte 211 in the Town of Wallkill.

The subject approached an employee outside the restaurant with a knife demanding money. The employee handed over his cell phone and i-pod. Other employees contacted 911 and began a search for the suspect who was chased to an apartment building in Country Manor Estates.

George D. Wendell, 46, of 500 Stratford lane, Middletown, NY was located and arrested and charged with Robbery in the first degree (B felony). Wendell was processed, arraigned, and sent to Orange County Jail without bail.
