John J. Tenbus of Narrowsburg,, NY, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at Oakwood Terrace, Moosic, PA . He was 84.

John Tenbus was born in Honesdale, Pa. on August 24, 1927, the son of the late Lawrence Joseph and Mary Catherine .Connor. John was married to the late Luella A. “Corky” Dexter Tenbus for 56 years. She passed away on February 24, 2007.

John was a retired carpenter. He was a former Magistrate for the Town of Tusten. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier RC Church, Narrowsburg, he was a member of Lava Fire Dept., he was a member (EMT)of the Tusten Vol. Ambulance Corps and was a member of the "Fireside Good Times Gang." A family statement reads: “John was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, he loved his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fixing everything, cutting wood, his yard art and music. He played the guitar with harmonica at the same time. During his early adult life he was a member of the 4 Y’s, a square dance band. Most of all he always helped anyone in need. He will truly be missed.”

He is survived by two daughters, Tina Pierce, of Reno, NV and Judy and her husband, Gary Eisenhauer, of Lakeville, PA; one son, Terry Tenbus and his wife, Margy, of Lava, NY; five grandchildren, Jessica Eick and her husband Frank, John Tenbus and his wife Colleen, Natalie and Emily Pierce and Kelly Nordenhold; great grandchildren Emma Eick, Frank Eick and Mason Tenbus; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three siblings, Catherine Castek, Mary Bayly and Arthur Tenbus.

Friends may call on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 12 noon to 1 p.m.. at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg.

Religious Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home in Narrowsburg on Sunday, August 12 with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.

Interment will be made in Glen Cove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-601.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY.
