Alfred Philip “Al” Snedeker of Kenoza Lake, NY, a retired automobile mechanic, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at home. He was 84.

The son of Frederick and Marie Schille Snedeker, Al was born in South Ozone Park, NY on April 11, 1927.

Alfred was past trustee of the Kenoza Lake Methodist Church, a former member of the Jeffersonville First Aid Squad, the Kenoza Lake Fire Department and a former Boy Scout leader of Troop 115. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Bernhardt Snedeker at home; sons Lyle Snedeker of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel Snedeker and wife Betty of Fosterdale, NY and Jon Snedeker and wife Kelly of Kenoza Lake; grandchildren Kevin Snedeker and wife Jamie Shawn Snedeker, Steven Snedeker, Stephanie Snedeker, Nicole Snedeker and Danielle Lyden and husband Gregg; sister Marie Levine of Signal Mountain, TN; sisters-in-law Mildred Snedeker of Fosterdale and Patricia Reinshagen of Grahamsville, NY; and nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brother, Philip Snedeker.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 12 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY with the Reverend William Chellis officiating. Burial with military honors was at Fosterdale Cemetery, Fosterdale, NY.

Memorials may be made to Kenoza Lake Methodist Church, Kenoza Lake Fire Dept., Jeffersonville First Aid Squad, or Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.
