Robert Lewis Weist of Prompton, PA died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at his home. He was 71.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Bonnie Lou Ward. The couple married April 21, 1962.

Born October 29, 1940 in Honesdale, PA, he was the son of the late Robert Franklin and Anna D. Kennedy Weist.

Bob was a self-employed contractor and mason. A hard worker, he later worked at Super Duper. He loved sports and enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and golfing. He bowled in several area leagues and in 1998 was inducted into the Wayne County Sports Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Most of all he loved being with his family and looked forward to family dinners when everyone would be together.

Also surviving are sons Robert and wife Betty of Narrowsburg, NY, William and wife Connie of Moscow, PA and Brian and wife Lacey of Honesdale; daughters Ann Marie Weist and Jeff Sporer of Honesdale and Michelle Hartman and Scott Pratcshler of Beach Lake, PA; sister Rosemary Erickson of Long Eddy, NY; longtime family friend Stanley Hartman; 24 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sister Betty Miller.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Grace Episcopal Church Honesdale with Father Edward K. Erb, Rector officiating. Cremation followed at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory in Archbald, PA.
