Marylou Betancourt of Glen Spey, NY, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. She was 69.

She was born May 31, 1942 in New Rochelle, NY, the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Grace Hortman Lanza.

A family statement read: “Marylou enjoyed crafting, reading, gardening and entertaining online friends with her unique wit and humor. She shared her life with her beloved pets. She was loved and will be missed by all.”

Surviving are daughters Mary Grace Samayoa and husband Alex of Greenwich, CT, Melanie Jane Betz of Eldred, NY, Melissa Lynn Thomas of Poughkeepsie, NY and Laura Anne Betz-Fay of Putnam Valley, NY; brothers John Lanza and wife Laura of Armonk, NY and Alfred Lanza and wife Barbara of N. Salem, NY; grandchildren David, Kimberly, Robert, Tabitha and CJ; and nephew and nieces.

A memorial service was held at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., Port Jervis, on Sunday, February 5. Cremation was at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA.
