PHYLLIS MILK HAHN

Phyllis Milk Hahn of Jeffersonville, NY, a self-employed hairdresser and lifelong resident, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 79.

Daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen Neumann Milk, she was born July 19, 1932 in Callicoon, NY. She was a graduate of Delaware Valley High School and Binghamton Beauty School.

Phyllis was a communicant of St. George’s R.C. Church where she taught CCD, directed the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector and was a member of the Rosary Society. Phyllis and Eugene were honored by The Province of The Most Holy Name of Jesus, The Order of Friars Minor in 1992. Phyllis served as president of the Sullivan County Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Assoc. Inc., in 1979 and was a 35-year member of the Jeffersonville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc., of which she was EMT of The Year in 1996.

A loving spouse, mother, grandmother and sister, Phyllis’ most treasured times were those spent with family. She also enjoyed camping, and gardening. During her 50 years as a beautician, she enjoyed her profession and her friendships with her customers.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 59 years, Eugene; children Susan Guba and husband Peter of Latham, NY, Pamela Phipps and husband Bob of Mechanicsville, VA, David and wife Kathy of Jeffersonville, Andrew and wife Tanya of Jeffersonville and Jane Johnson and husband Rob of Greenfield Twp., PA; grandchildren Jacklyn, James and Kristin Guba, Ashley and Bryan Phipps, Derek Hahn, Michael and Christopher Hahn and Timothy and Kevin Johnson; sister Marion Milk Dumond of Ellenville, NY; brother-in-law, Richard Hofer of Cochecton Center, NY; and several nephews and cousins.

Phyllis’ life was celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial by Father Vu and Father Joseph Juracek, OFM at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 10. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.
