Two arrested for robbing Fosterdale Minimart

On Tuesday May 10, 2016 at approximately 5:30 PM, The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol responded to a 911 report of a robbery at the Fosterdale Mini Mart, on the corner of State Routes 52 and 17B in the Town of Cochecton. The owner reported that a male subject had made a purchase and when he rang up the sale and opened the cash register, the male lunged over the counter and removed cash from the till.

The owner chased the subject out into the parking lot where another male was waiting in a vehicle. Both suspects fled the scene in what appeared to be a gray or silver Chrysler Sebring convertible. The suspects were last seen heading towards Kenoza Lake. Armed with the description, units from the Sheriff’s Office, Bethel Constables and State Police swarmed the western part of the County looking for the suspects, who were able to evade the drag net.

On Thursday May 12, 2016, following up on several leads, Sheriff’s detectives located the suspect vehicle parked at 125 Main Street in Hurleyville. With the help of the Fallsburg police, Sheriff’s detectives located suspect Cody Krug, 23, in an apartment at the residence. The second suspect, Thomas Crowley, age 34, was located by detectives at 216 Bushville Rd. in Harris.

Both men were taken to the Sheriff’s Office where they confessed to the robbery and were arrested. Krug and Crowley were charged with Felony Robbery and Misdemeanor Petit Larceny. They were arraigned before Town of Bethel Judge Kevin Rhyne and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail each, pending a future appearance in the Town of Cochecton court. Sheriff Mike Schiff credited the assistance provided by the various law enforcement agencies with solving this crime so quickly.
