Loch Sheldrake couple arrested for burglary

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office has arrested two suspects from Loch Sheldrake in connection with a burglary at the Monticello Farmer's Market.

Deputies were called to the store on East Broadway on Friday morning, July 24, 2015, when employees discovered the break in. Entry had apparently been gained through an outside milk cooler which leads into the store. Employees discovered that over $6,000 in cash and coins had been stolen.

Video surveillance revealed that the two burglars wore ski masks and had disabled the alarm system. Following up on leads, Deputy Sheriff Joseph Calvello quickly identified Joseph Hernandez, 33 and Damaris Hernandez, 28, of Foxcroft Village in the Town of Fallsburg as suspects.

Joseph Hernandez is a current employee of the store and his wife Damaris is a former employee. Deputies were able to recover the money from their residence at 30 Oxford Circle. Both suspects were charged with Felony Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.

They were arraigned before town of Thompson Judge Perry Meltzer. Joseph Hernandez was committed to the Sullivan County Jail without bail. Damaris Hernandez had her bail set at $3,500. Both are due back in court later this week.
