On Sunday 12/21/14 at about 11:38 PM Sullivan County 911 received a call of a robbery in progress on Lake Shore Drive West, in the Emerald Green Subdivision of Rock Hill. Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies and state troopers responded to the scene and interviewed Rachel Farina, 18, of Woodridge.
Farina stated that two masked men had approached her, brandished a knife, removed her and a passenger from her car and then rifled through the vehicle, stealing her pocketbook and other personal belongings. The men then fled on foot. Sheriff’s Deputies quickly developed information that one of the suspects was hiding nearby at 16 Westfield Court.
Deputies took Nicholas A. Rosario, 19, of Rock Hill into custody in front that location. As the investigation progressed it was soon learned that Farina and her passenger, Juliana R. Carmack, 17, of Cochecton were in Rock Hill to drop off illegal drugs.
Sheriff’s Detectives charged Nicholas Rosario with Robbery in the 1st degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, and Petit Larceny. He was arraigned before Thompson Town Judge Marty Miller and committed to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Rachel Farina and Juliana Carmack were charged with Misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Farina was also charged with giving a false written statement. Both women were issued an appearance ticket and released pending a future court date. State Troopers assisted at the scene with the investigation which is still continuing.
