Monticello Police arrested Tina Esquilin, age 26, of Monticello on Tuesday 9/9/14. Esquilin was charged with Felony Assault in the 2nd Degree.

At 3:30 p.m. on September 9, Monticello Police were assisting a female employee of the Sullivan County Child Protective Services Unit with a removal of a child from a residence on Osborne Street in the Village of Monticello.

As the C.P.S.worker was in the process of removing the child, Esquilin arrived at the residence and began verbally arguing with the worker. Esquilin then, while in the presence of the Monticello Police officers, suddenly lunged across a room and struck the C.P.S. worker in the face with a closed fist, causing physical injury to the worker.

Officers immediately took Esquilin into custody. Esquilin was arraigned before Village of Monticello Justice Josephine Finn and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $1,000.00 bail pending further court action.
