Search Warrant Execution in Port Jervis at 26 Elizabeth Street, Apt#4

On July 8, 2014, members of the Port Jervis City Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group assisted by Orange County Child Protective Services executed a “No Knock” Port Jervis City Court Ordered Search Warrant on an apartment located at 26 Elizabeth Street, Apartment #4, in the City of Port Jervis, New York.

While executing the search warrant, the target of the investigation, Alverista Hall Jr, age 30, of said address, was observed climbing out a second story of the residence to a roof top where he then observed throwing numerous packets containing the narcotic drug heroin out into the yard in an attempt to dispose of the drug. Hall was taken into custody and a total of 288 envelopes containing over one ounce of the narcotic drug Heroin having a street value of $2,880.00 was recovered and a quantity of US Currency.

Hall was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (With Intent to Sell) and Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (possession of more than 1/2 ounce of a narcotic drug), both class B felonies, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree (C Felony), Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class E Felony. Hall was subsequently arraigned in Port Jervis City Court where he was remanded to the custody of the Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 bail pending further court appearance.

The arrest is the result of on-going investigations being conducted by the Port Jervis Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office into citizen complaints of illicit drug activity occurring in the City of Port Jervis region. Alert citizens provide a vital role with continuing to keep our community safe. A citizen’s “eyes and ears” are time proven crime prevention tools that have contributed greatly to law enforcement efforts to combat the illicit sale and possession of narcotics in our community.
