On June 26, 2014, the New York State Police in Wurtsboro arrested Richard Gonzales, age 50, of Rock Hill, NY, for the felony charges of Rape in the First Degree and Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree. He was additionally charged with the misdemeanor offense of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Gonzales was arrested and charged following an investigation which revealed he had engaged in forcible sexual intercourse with a 12 year old female. The incident occurred on June 24, 2014 in his apartment. Gonzales and the victim are acquaintances.

Gonzales was arraigned in the Town of Thompson Court and subsequently remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $75,000.00 cash bail. He is scheduled to return to court on a later date.
