Port Jervis heroin arrests

Port Jervis City Police with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Operations Group executed a “No Knock” Search Warrant issued from Port Jervis City Court upon an apartment located at 3 Barcelow Street in the City of Port Jervis, on June 20, 2014 based upon on-going investigations into the illicit sale of narcotic drugs in the City of Port Jervis.

City Police arrested and charged Catherine Smith, age 42, of the above address, with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third degree “with intent to sell” and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, both class B Felonies. The defendant is accused of selling the narcotic drug heroin.

In addition, Robert J. Garreau, age 30, of Greenville, NY was charged with possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Police recovered a quantity of heroin, U.S Currency, and a 12 gauge shotgun during the execution of the search warrant.

Defendant Catherine Smith was held in the PJPD City Lock-up, arraigned in City Court, and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Defendant Robert Garreau was released on his own recognizance and directed to appear in City Court on a later date.

The arrests are part of on-going efforts by the Port Jervis City Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office targeting the illicit sales of narcotics in the City of Port Jervis region.
