Monticello Police are currently investigating an incident involving multiple stabbing victims. The incident occurred at 6:15 PM Wednesday 5/14/14 at 37 Cottage Street in the Village of Monticello.
A 14 year-old male juvenile was stabbed in the neck and his 19 year-old sister was stabbed multiple times with the most serious stab wound in her back with a knife blade still being imbedded. The brother and sister were transported from the scene to CRMC.
The brother and sister victims were then flown by medevac to the Albany Medical Center. The female victim under went emergency surgery last evening to remove the knife blade imbedded in her back. Both victims are reported to be in stable condition at this time.
A 45 year-old female was located at 12:15 AM this morning when she called for ambulance from a residence on Thomas street in the Village of Monticello seeking treatment for a serious stab wound to a hand.
Investigating Officers determined that her injury occurred during the incident earlier in the evening on Cottage Street. She was transported to CRMC by Mobile Medic Ambulance and was treated and released. She is currently being interviewed at the Monticello police station.
An 18 year-old female is also currently in custody at the Monticello police station charged with Felony assault in the 2nd degree. The defendant is currently awaiting an arraignment and her name is being withheld at this time. An active investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Monticello police in confidence at 845-794-4422.
Sullivan county sheriff deputies assisted Monticello police at the scene.
