Port Jervis man arrested on drug charges

PORT JERVIS POLICE ARRESTED EARLE HOYTE , AGE 31 , OF 25 MECHANIC STREET, PORT JERVIS AND CHARGED HIM WITH NUMEROUS DRUG AND TRAFFIC CHARGES.

AT ABOUT 4:10PM, HOYTE WAS OPERATING A 2005 FORD MINIVAN ON JERSEY AVE AND DID FAIL TO YIELD TO A PEDESTRIAN IN THE CROSSWALK. A PATROL OFFICER STOPPED HOYTE ON JERSEY AVE AND UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, FOUND HOYTE TO BE IN POSSESSION OF MARIUHANA AND COCAINE. MR. HOYTE FLED THE SCENE IN HIS MINIVAN BEFORE HE COULD BE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY THE OFFICER. SEVERAL PJ POLICE OFFICERS JOINED IN A BRIEF PURSUIT WHICH ENDED ON SOUTH MAPLE AVE NEAR THE NEW JERSEY BORDER.

HOYTE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AND CHARGED WITH THE FOLLOWING OFFENSES : CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 3RD AND 4TH DEGREE, CRIMINAL POSSESSION A WEAPON , UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF MARIHUANA, AND SERVERAL VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC LAW VIOLATIONS.

OFFICERS SEIZED : 7 GRAMS OF COCAINE, A CLUB –TYPE WEAPON, $942.00 IN CASH, A SMALL QUANTITY OF MARIHUANA, AND HOYTE’S 2005 FORD MINIVAN WAS ALSO SEIZED.

HOYTE WAS HELD IN CITY LOCK UP OVERNIGHT TO AWAIT ARRAIGNMENT IN CITY COURT
