On Monday April 14th, 2014 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Richard Lawson, 35 of New York City, after an investigation into the passing of a forged prescription.
Village of Liberty Police were called to a local pharmacy on March 21st, 2014 after being alerted by a pharmacist of an indivual passing a forged and stolen prescription for 180 oxycodone pills.
Investigation resulted in identifying Richard Lawson as the individual passing the prescription. Lawson was located in New York City and arrested by members of the Liberty Police Department.
Lawson was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the 2nd degree and attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 4th degree, both felonies and criminal possession of stolen property in the 5th degree a misdemeanor.
Lawson was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail.
