On February 11, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Jason Sherwood, age 36 of Woodbourne, NY after it was reported that he engaged in sex with a fourteen year old female this past New Year's Eve. Sherwood was arrested after an investigation was conducted by the Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team, which is comprised of State Police and Department of Health and Family Service members.

Sherwood was charged with Rape in the Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu fo $50,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
