Liberty man arrested for assault

On January 6th, 2014 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Kusar Vereen, 33 of Liberty, after an investigation into an assault that occurred on North Main Street.

On December 28th, 2013 the Liberty Police Department responded to a bar on Main Street in the village for a report of a female with head injuries. Investigation into the incident revealed that while both parties were in the establishment, Vereen physically grabbed the buttocks of the female. A verbal altercation ensued which led to Vereen assaulting the female by throwing a bar glass at her forehead causing physical injury.

Vereen was charged with assault in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, both felonies and sexual abuse in the third degree, a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail and is due to appear on January 7th, 2014 back in the Town of Liberty.
