Westtown man arrested for assault

On December 9, 2013, State Police in Middletown announce the arrest of Jesse D. Castro, age 25, of Westtown NY for attempted assault and other charges following the investigation of a disturbance at Castro’s residence.
The previous evening, troopers responded to the residence and interviewed a female acquaintance of Castro, who reported that Castro physically assaulted her, and threatened to kill her while holding a hand saw to her neck. Castro fled the scene prior to troopers’ arrival. The victim was taken to Bon Secours Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
Castro surrendered to State Police on the afternoon of December 9th. He was charged with one count each of attempted assault in the second degree, a felony, menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and aggravated harassment in the second degree, all misdemeanors.
Castro was arraigned before Town of Minisink Justice Paul Lattimer and committed to Orange County Jail in lieu of $4,000.00 cash bail or $8,000 bond.
