A Honesdale man has been arrested for growing pot plants both inside and outside of his home at 20 Oregon Turnpike.

The Pennsylvania State Police said they received a call regarding a residence where marijuana plants were viewed outside the home of 43-year-old Dennie Edward Mahon. Police investigated and on August 28 a search warrant was executed at the property.

Police discovered that the was a fully functional indoor growing operation established throughout the residence. There were approximately 17 plants in various stages of growth in a bathroom and a bedroom closet. There were also seven jars of processed marijuana in the house.

While outside the property, all the troopers present recognized at least three plants as marijuana, and they were considerably taller than all the other vegetation growing there at the time. Also observed from the yard was the fact that all of the windows to the residence were covered.

One of the windows at the rear of the residence had a small section of the interior exposed and there was a very bright light coming from it.

The odor of marijuana was readily detectable by all of the troopers, who also noticed that several large meters were attached to the base of the PPL meter. This technique is reportedly used to slow down the speed of the meter show as not

to show the actual power being consumed by the residence.

When Mahon returned to his home, he was detained by a waiting trooper and arraigned on various drug charges.
