On June 23, 2013 a New York State Trooper from the Wurtsboro barracks patrolling State Route 17 in Sullivan County came across drugs hidden in a fake soda can. After stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation, the Trooper noticed the smell of marihuana coming from inside the vehicle.
A search was conducted, and a phony Diet Coke can with a screw-off top was found inside. Inside of the can were 14 marihuana cigarettes that weighed a combined 7.5 grams. The driver of the vehicle, Joseph Schwartz of Forrest Hills, NY, was arrested for unlawful possession of marihuana and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Mamakating Court.
