Liberty man arrested for selling crack

On Saturday 1/12/13 the Village of Liberty Police arrested Tyrone Wilder,29 of Liberty, after an investigation into street level crack cocaine sales in the Main Street area of the village.

Village officers investigating drug sales in the area apprehended Wilder after a foot pursuit, officers had to subdue Wilder with pepper spray after he fought back while officers were trying to arrest him. Wilder was found in possession of 34 individually wrapped packets of crack cocaine and over $500.00 in drug proceeds in his pocket.

Wilder was charged with Criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell in the 3rd degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 4th degree, both felonies and obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree a misdemeanor. Wilder was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail to appear in court again on 01/15/12 at 10:00am.

Chief of Police Scott Kinne states, “Wilder’s arrest serves as a critical blow to the crack cocaine sales occurring in the downtown Liberty area. Those who choose to sell illegal drugs in the Village of Liberty need to be put on notice that this department will continue to engage in pro-active police work to investigate and arrest these dangerous criminals”.
