Liberty man arrrested for menacing with kithcen knife

On Thursday September 27th 2012 Village of Liberty Police arrested Rafael Malave, 24 of Monticello after an investigation into an incident that occurred on Tuesday September 25th, 2012.

Police were called to an apartment complex in the village on Tuesday afternoon for a report of a man with a knife. Police investigation revealed that Malave had gotten into an argument with another man at the complex and had menaced him with a 12’ kitchen knife.

Malave fled the scene prior to police arrival and discarded the knife in a ditch in an effort to hide it. Malave was arrested Thursday morning without incident and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and tampering with physical evidence, felonies, and menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor. Malave was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $5,000.
