The Wayne County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that a shooting took place in the early morning hours of Monday, August 20th in Damascus Township. The shooting occurred at a residence on Cemetery Road. Kristina Sue Adams, of Damascus Township, age 29, was deceased at the scene from a gunshot wound. Rodney Ezrapour, age 56, was deceased at the scene from what appears to be a self inflicted gunshot wound. Ezrapour had residences in Damascus Township and in New York City, New York. Tobias (Toby) Johannes, age 37, was shot in the arm and is currently being treated at CMC in Scranton.

Edwards said the shootings seem to be a case of domestic violence.

District Attorney Janine Edwards stated, “The Pennsylvania State Police are still investigating this terrible incident and no further information will be released until they have completed their initial investigation. Due to the swift response and presence of the State Police in Damascus Township, I wanted to assure the citizens of Damascus Township that this appears to be a case of domestic violence the details of which will be released at the appropriate time.”

The state police issued a press release on August 21 calling the incident a murder/suicide. The release said that Ezrapour was at Adams home at about 6:00 am on August 20, when Adams and Johannes entered the house. According to the statement, Ezrapour opened fire fatally wounding Adams, while Johannes recieved a non-lefr threatening wound and was able to flee the scene.

According to the release, Ezrapour subsequently took his own life. Johannes recieved medical attention at an area-hospital and was later released.
