State Police at Highland announce the arrest of Alton Thomas, age 50, of Clintondale, NY for the Penal Law offenses of Criminal sexual act in the first degree, a felony; Criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, a misdemeanor; and Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.

Thomas was also charged under the Public Health Law with the offense Growing of the plant known as Cannabis by unlicensed persons, a misdemeanor. The arrest was made subsequent to an Ulster County 911 call for a domestic disturbance at the defendant’s residence in Clintondale.

An investigation at the scene revealed 22 marijuana plants and remnants of crack cocaine. Thomas was arraigned by Town Justice Maciocia, Town of Plattekill Court and was remanded to Ulster County Jail with no bail. Thomas is due back in the Town of Plattekill Court on August 15, 2012.
