On Sunday July 15, 2012, The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office arrested Chester Stanton, 52, of Neversink for failure to register as a level 3 sex offender. The charge is a class E Felony. Stanton, who previously resided in Liberty, moved to Neversink in January and failed to report to the Sheriff's Office in April and then again in June. Deputies tracked him to a residence on Schumway Road and took him into custody. Stanton was taken before Town of Liberty Judge Brian Rouke and sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
