Sullivan County District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Robert Williams, 51, of Brooklyn, N.Y. was sentenced in Sullivan County Court to 7 years in state prison and 2 years of post release supervision for his conviction for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B felony.

Williams was stopped in a motor vehicle by the New York State Police on October 16, 2011, on State Route 17 in the Town of Thompson and a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up over 500 decks of heroin. Williams was sentenced as a second felony offender, having four prior felonies in Nassau and Kings County for Burglary, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, Grand Larceny and Weapons Possession.

Farrell said, “The New York State Police did a terrific job in removing a substantial amount of dangerous narcotics from our streets and this successful prosecution resulted in another drug trafficker being removed from the community for an extended period of time.” Williams was prosecuted by ADA Meagan Galligan.
