Stabbing at party In Greenville results in multiple arrests

On Sunday April 28, 2012, at approximately 12:45AM, the New York State Police in Catskill responded to a reported fight involving a stabbing at a large party located at 749 Big Woods Road in the Town of Greenville, Greene County, NY. The investigation revealed that three individuals had been stabbed during a fight with a subject who left before the State Police arrived.

One female victim, age 19, from Middleburgh, NY, was stabbed in the forearm; a male victim, age 25, from Schenectady, NY, was stabbed in his leg; and a third victim, a male, age 19, from Cairo, NY, was stabbed in the side of his torso. None of the injuries were life threatening and the victims were transported and treated at Columbia Memorial Hospital and Albany Medical Center.

On Sunday evening State Police at Catskill arrested JAMES E. FELTER, 18, of Catskill, NY, for the stabbings. FELTER was charged with three counts of Assault in the 2nd Degree, a class D felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a class A misdemeanor. As a result of their investigation of the party, which included underage drinking, the State Police also arrested the following individuals:

The homeowner, DANIEL WHITBECK, age 25, of Greenville, NY for:

Criminal possession of Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a class D Felony; Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st Degree, a class A misdemeanor; Criminal Nuisance in the 2nd Degree, a class B misdemeanor and Promoting the service and consumption of alcoholic beverages by a person under the age of 21 at a private residence in the county, a violation of Greene County local law.

The party’s promoter, NATHAN LEE, 26, of Westerlo, NY, for

Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st Degree, a class A misdemeanor and Criminal Nuisance in the 2nd Degree, a class B misdemeanor.

An employee of LEE’s, MATTHEW BRINK, 27, of Freehold, NY, for Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st Degree.

SAMIR ALYGAD, 23, of Greenville, NY, a friend of FELTER’s, for

Providing a False Written Statement, a class A misdemeanor and Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree, a class A Misdemeanor.

Each of the subjects were arraigned before Town of Greenville Justice Schreiber. FELTER was remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. ALYGAD was remanded on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. WHITBECK was remanded on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. LEE and BRINK were released on the own recognizance. All are scheduled to reappear before the Town of Greenville Court on 05/16/2012.

The State Police were assisted during this investigation by members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the Village of Catskill Police Department.
