On Monday February 20, 2012 at approximately 8:00 PM, a student who resides in the dormatory at Sullivan County Community College reported that someone had broken into his room through a first floor window and had stolen his laptop computer and some cash. The laptop was valued at $2,000.
Sheriff's Deputies, on scheduled night patrol at the college, responded to the incident. The Deputies quickly determined that the burglary was staged to look as if someone had broken into the room from the outside. The investigation immediately focused on the victim's roommate and another student who eventually confessed to stealing the property.
Rodney Adjei, 19, of Queens and Tyrek Joyner, 20, of Brooklyn were each charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th degree a class E Felony. They were both released on an appearance ticket pending a February 29th court date in the Town of Fallsburg. The Laptop was recovered by the Sheriff's Office.
