Woman Arrested in Robbery of Disabled Man in Jeffersonville

Posted

On Thursday January 5, 2012 the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office received a report from two concerned citizens that a disabled man who resides on Route 52 in Jeffersonville, may have been the victim of a robbery. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the residence and located a 56 year old man who is confined to a wheel chair. The victim told them that the night before, (January 4, 2012), a female suspect entered his residence through an unlocked door and demanded money. The suspect allegedly slapped the disabled man in his face and pushed him until he handed over his wallet. The suspect took $400 dollars in cash and a $550 money order which was meant to pay the victim’s rent. The suspect also took oxycodone and morphine pills from the victim before fleeing the residence.

The victim did not report the incident immediately for fear of retaliation. "This is one of those crimes that just turns your stomach", said Sheriff Mike Schiff. "The victim felt helpless and was afraid to contact the police".

Deputies quickly developed leads and identified the suspect as Bridget K. Sattler, 25, of Cohoes, NY, which is just south of Albany. Sattler was located nearby at a relative’s house and arrested. She was arraigned before Town of Callicoon Judge Ed McKenna, charged with burglary and robbery, and sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 17, 2012 at 7:00 PM
