Sunoco Station attendant thwarts robbery in Honesdale

December 30, 2011 — The Honesdale Borough Police arrested JOSHUA J. COLEMAN age 19 for attempting to rob the Highhouse Sunoco Station. On December 23, 2011 at approx. 9:50 p.m, a white male approached the attendant at the Highhouse Sunoco gas station on Route 191 in the Borough of Honesdale. This male handed the attendant a note demanding money and cigarettes. The attendant refused to hand over the money and items, and called the police and told the male he had two minutes before the cops showed up.

The attendant told the police that the male had walked south onto Erie Street and provided a description of the suspect. Sgt Bishop was alerted and observed a male fitting the description walking near Gary's Laundromat on Erie Street. The male was arrested and identified as Joshua J. COLEMAN.

COLEMAN was charged with CRIMINAL ATTEMPT of ROBBERY a felony. COLEMAN was arraigned before MDJ Carney. Bail was set at $15,000 unsecured and COLEMAN was released. A Central Court appearance is forthcoming. Lt. Witt is the investigation Officer.
