Honesdale man arrested for theft, forgery

On 12-27-2011 the Honesdale Borough Police initiated an investigation into the report of a Theft, Forgery and Access Device Fraud incident.

Through an investigation is was learned that on 12-09-11 Joshua COLEMAN 19 years of age of Honesdale stole a debit card from a victim. Between 12-09-2011 and 12-14-2011 COLEMAN used the stolen debit card on fourteen occasions to make cash withdrawals and purchases at various locations in and around Honesdale totaling $1,160.68.

COLEMAN then stole a check from the same victim on 12-19-2011 and forged the victim’s signature and cashed said check for $140.00 at a bank in Honesdale.

On 12-28-2011 charges of Theft, Forgery, and Access Device Fraud were filed against COLEMAN. Honesdale Borough Police officers obtained a warrant for COLEMAN on 12-29-2011. COLEMAN was arrested shortly thereafter in Honesdale.

COLEMAN was taken before Magistrate T. Mikulak at The Wayne County Courthouse where he was afforded a preliminary arraignment. COLEMAN failed to post $2,000 bail and was incarcerated in The Wayne County Correctional Facility.
