Honesdale police update

INCIDENT: Underage Drinking incident..

On 09/16/11 at approx. 7:45 PM the Honesdale Borough Police cited a 14 year old male at the Honesdale High School Football game for underage drinking.

Several students had brought to the attention of the school staff that a 14 year old male was in attendance and had been drinking alcohol. The staff immediately notified the officers on location.

Once the 14 year old male was located, officers conducted their investigation and he was cited for underage drinking. After the citation was issued he was released to a parent.

INCIDENT: 3 car crash on Cliff Street.

On 09/10/2011, The Honesdale Borough Police investigated a 3 car crash which occurred on Cliff St, near the intersection of Willow Ave.

A Dodge Dakota being driven by 29 year old Nicholas Collins was traveling southbound on Cliff St. and failed to stop near the intersection of Willow Ave, and collided with a Ford Escape being driven by Jacqueline Knack of Damascus.

Knack, who was stopped on Cliff St., in the left turning lane, then collided with a GMC Sierra being driven by Christopher Tallman of Honesdale. Both Knack and Tallman were waiting for the red light to turn green. Jacqueline Knack and passenger were transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital.

An investigation was conducted by Borough Police resulting in Collins being arrested for suspicion of DUI.

INCIDENT: Richter vs Reiman crash

On 09/13 /2011, The Honesdale Borough Police responded to a two car crash on West Park Street and Maple Ave. According to Police, a vehicle driven by Abbey Richter, 20 from Damascus, struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Shaun Rieman, 32 from Beach Lake. Neither driver was injured in the crash. Rieman had slowed down to avoid debris that was in the roadway and was then struck from behind by Richter.

After an investigation by the police it was discovered that another driver ahead of Rieman, failed to secure items on his vehicle. That driver was cited for having an unsecured load. Honesdale EMS, Honesdale Fire Department and Fire Police assisted at the scene.

INCIDENT: Knack vs Straut crash

On 09/10/2011, the Honesdale Borough Police investigated a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Cliff Street and Garrett Hill Road. A Ford Escape being driven by 52 year old Kevin Knack of Damascus was stopped on Garrett Hill Road., at the intersection of Cliff Street. Knack then attempted to make a left turn onto Cliff Street and collided with a Kawasaki motorcycle being driven by Michael Straut of Honesdale, who was traveling north bound on Cliff Street.

Straut was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Knack was cited for section 3323, Stop signs and yield signs, for failure to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.
