SHOHOLA, PA — “Come to our October Exhibit at your own risk!” says Aly Paino of the Artists’ Market Community Center. “Our Macabre Art History 101 display is not for the squeamish.” There will be an opening reception for the exhibit on Saturday, October 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Artists’ Market Community Center (AMCC), 114 Richardson Ave.

The exhibition includes prints of pieces from 1568 to the present, and includes Francisco Goya’s “Saturn Devouring His Son,” which was never meant for public display. It’s one of 14 oils Goya painted directly onto the walls of his house outside Madrid, and these came to be known as the Black Paintings.

The exhibit is sponsored by the Barryville Area Arts Association, and they’ll have a local artist at the reception to make a brief presentation and answer questions.

Area artists who will also be showing their work at the AMCC this month include Linda Cobb, W. Ray Corriher, Rebecca Esposito, Mef Gannon, Woody Goldberg, Nancy Kaericher, Judy Kirtley, Kate Kozel, Stephanie McClure, Nick Roes, Kelly Ryan, Joan Standora, Brad Walrod and Elva Zingaro.
