In the spring of 1948, the Narrowsburg Airport, Malcolm Dexter’s business venture, was in full swing with many area residents learning to fly. It was located where Lander’s campground now is, and Mr. Dexter had built hangers, hired an instructor and offered training to acquire a pilot’s license. Here, waiting for a spin in Dexter’s Navion are, left to right, Shirley Reith, Jeanne Slater, Charlotte Hamje and Kate Dexter, Malcolm’s daughter. Dexter’s tragic death in July of 1948 led to the slow demise of the business.
