Seeking performers for The Weather Project

HIGHLAND LAKE, NY — NACL Theatre is currently developing a touring version of The Weather Project play and invites additional performers to join the community ensemble. The play will begin a county-wide and regional tour in May 2015.

The Weather Project is a spectacular all-ages outdoor performance about climate change directed by Tannis Kowalchuk, artistic director of NACL Theatre in Highland Lake. The play was developed with NASA scientist Elaine Matthews, in collaboration with The Town of Highland and a host of community groups.

Following the great success of the play’s premiere last August 2014 in Yulan, the ensemble is meeting weekly from December to May to develop a more compact touring version of the performance. In 2015, The Weather Project will tour to the towns of Highland, Livingston Manor, Liberty, and Monticello. The first engagement is in May at The Kumble Theatre for the Performing Arts in Brooklyn, NY.

Kowalchuk is seeking new participants interested in singing, dance, acting, writing and stilt-walking. The project is open to participants aged 13 and up who are focused and committed, otherwise no prior stage experience is required.

Rehearsals take place every Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Highland Senior Center located at 725 State Route 55, Eldred. Contact tannis@nacl.org for an interview or call 845/557-0694. For more information about The Weather Project and NACL Theatre, visit www.NACL.org
