It’s getting a little chilly out there. I guess it’s time to put the summer clothes away and get out the jeans and sweaters. I love the fall but hate the allergies from the golden rod weed.

There are lots of things going on in the next few weeks, so get your calendar out and enter some of these upcoming events.

On Saturday, September 20, the Cochecton Men’s Club is having their annual chicken barbeque from 2 to 4 p.m. at the parking lot of Cochecton Mills. For more information call Sean at 845/932-8282.

On Sunday, September 21 at 1 p.m. the Cochecton Preservation Society is hosting Coffee, Tea and History at the Cochecton Train Station (make a left at Woody the Bear on Route 97). This free event will be about letters from soldiers to family back home in Cochecton dating 1800 through 1901. There are 46 family names from this area mentioned in letters. Refreshments will be served at intermission. For more information, call Jerry at 845/932-8219.

On Sunday, October 5 at 11:30 a.m. join the family of Elaine Katzoff for the unveiling of Elaine’s headstone at the Jeffersonville Hebrew Cemetery, Route 52 in Jeffersonville.

Other dates to save:

On October 4, the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church is having a penny social.

On October 12, Holy Cross Church on Route 97 in Callicoon is serving a pasta dinner.

On October 25, Cochecton Youth Group will hold a Tricky Trunk. If you would like to have a trunk of candy for the Cochecton Youth. give me a call.

On October 25, a Red Hatters Halloween Dance Party will be held at Angelina’s at 6 p.m. The theme is the 1950s, so get out your poodle skirts and leather jackets.

On November 4, Election Day, the Cochecton Republican party holds its annual chicken barbeque.

More info to follow in the upcoming weeks.

I met a very interesting man in Angelina’s on the Hill last Saturday: Cy Skinner born in Cochecton Center, 1937. I asked him are you a Skinner from Skinners Falls and he said “Yep, that was my Uncle Frank who built the big house.” Cy lives in California and just came back to Lake Huntington for a few weeks to visit old friends.

Have a great week and e-mail leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
