GLEN SPEY, NY — More than 300 cyclists posed for a photograph, left, after crossing the finish line of a two-day, 180-mile bike ride that raised over $4 million last week for Chai Lifeline, an organization that pays for Jewish children with fatal, life-threatening or lifelong serious chronic diseases to attend a special summer camp at Camp Simcha in Glen Spey. Bike4Chai riders, like those seen above right, crossing the Delaware River at Lackawaxen, PA, began their trek on Thursday, July 30 in New Jersey, traveled through the Pocono Mountains, and ended at the Sullivan County summer camp the next day. Among five top fundraisers who raised more than $100,000 each was R. Herzka who garnered pledges totaling $411,141. Two top fundraising teams—Team Meridian and Team Madfield—raised more than half a million dollars each. These funds will send 420 sick children to spend two weeks at Camp Simcha.
