This is a picture of Carl and “Toots” Wieland with their daughter getting a close look at the steam engine, circa 1950, at the Narrowsburg Erie Railroad Station. Carl was a plumber here in the area, and Toots was the telephone operator before the dial system was introduced to the town. Toots was the one we called to find out where the fire was, because the operator knew who called it in. This photo is from the Ruth & Frank Behling collection.

The Tusten Historical Society’s hours at the Western Sullivan Public Library, Tusten-Cochecton branch in Narrowsburg, are Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m., Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
