New soap and candle business launched in Callicoon Center

CALLICOON CENTER, NY — Grosbeak Gardens LLC, a new handmade soap and candle company, has begun operation in Callicoon Center. The business is run by Bill Bakker and Stephen D’Agostino, homeowners in the village since 2005.

“Shea butter makes our soap really moisturizing,” Bakker said, “but it’s the fragrances, all inspired by our life and what we grow at Grosbeak Gardens, that make our soaps and candles special. That’s why we add no colorants to our formulas except for those derived from natural clays and the oils.”

Grosbeak Gardens has seven garden-inspired soaps: cucumber, green apple, lavender, lilac, pear, rosemary, and tomato leaf, as well as an unscented bar. As for candles, Grosbeak Gardens offer basil, cucumber, lavender, lilac, pear, rosemary and vanilla. In addition, Grosbeak Gardens produces seasonal fragrances featured for a limited time throughout the year.

Grosbeak Gardens has a shop on Etsy (www.GbGNest.com) and will also exhibit at various regional arts and crafts fairs, including Riverfest and the Bethel Woods Harvest Festival. For more information call 973/801-4842, email GrosbeakGardens@gmail.com, or visit GrosbeakGardens.com.
