PORT JERVIS, NY — Recently the medical staff at Bon Secours Community Hospital honored 12 physicians, 10 retired and two deceased, who, until recent years, had been affiliated with the hospital.

They were lauded for the important role they played and the sacrifices they made serving this community during a cocktail hour, dinner and awards ceremony held at the Erie Banquet Hall.

“These physicians represent over 400 years of combined service to the Tri-State Community,” said Dr. Gopal Shah, chief of the medical staff at Bon Secours Community Hospital. “And this was a special event that we celebrated for those distinguished, dedicated and hard working physicians. The medical staff and the tri-state community will never forget their services.”

The physicians who had retired within the past few years and were honored for their service to the community were: Jeffrey Auerbach, DO, who specialized in internal medicine; Shyamkishore Bhandarkar, MD, a general surgeon; Leonora DeCastro, MD, a pediatrician; David Brody, MD, a gastroenterologist; Henry Goldstein, MD, an ophthalmologist; Meherwan Mistry, MD, a general surgeon; Jagadish Navare, MD, an ENT surgeon; Hassan Sadaghiani, MD, an OB/GYN surgeon; Hsien Yu, MD, an anesthesiologist; and Chii Wang, MD, a general surgeon.

Those physicians who have since passed away were John Rahoche, MD, a general surgeon, represented by his wife, Arlene, and Stanley Brunn, MD, an OB/GYN surgeon represented by his wife, Melody.
