SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY —Former Narrowsburg Fire Chief Craig Burkle stepped down as president of the Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Association (SCVFA) on Friday, June 13, and Peter Maltese (Kauneonga Lake, assistant chief) was installed as the new president along with other 2014 officers: Ralph Hornbeck, first vice president (Neversink); William Clark, second vice president (White Sulphur Springs); Michael Hoyt, third vice president (Rock Hill); Joe Mellan, treasurer (Highland Lake); Chet Smith, recording secretary (Rock Hill); Jillian Smith, financial secretary (Kauneonga Lake); Bill Lathrop (Wurtsboro); John Cassidy Sr., (Forestburgh) and Don Sherwood, trustees (Swan Lake); Mark Meddaugh, sergeant at arms (Rock Hill); and Rev. Donald Beck, chaplain (Narrowsburg). SCVFA was organized in 1926, and this was its 55th annual dinner. It was held at Villa Roma Resort.
