LIBERTY, NY — Every year the Sullivan County Shields presents an annual scholarship of $500 to a Sullivan County high school senior who intends to pursue a career in some branch of law enforcement. They announced that this year’s recipient is Anthony Lombardi, a senior at Monticello High School.
Lombardi will attend Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond and will major in fire, arson, and explosion investigation. He has been active in his community as a volunteer firefighter and with the volunteer ambulance corps where he is working toward his EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification.
At the Shields meeting on May 21, President John Ryan presented Lombardi with a letter of congratulations. Lombardi’s parents, June and Kent Lombardi, and sister, Marina, were on hand to help applaud his accomplishments. Lombardi resides in Mongaup Valley with his mom and sister.
The Sullivan County Shields is an organization in support and made up to a large degree of current and retired law enforcement personnel. It meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Senior Center on North Main Street in Liberty.
