MOUNTAINDALE, NY — Individuals who would like to learn basic pruning skills are invited to a free “Celebrate Sullivan Spaces” workshop in Mountaindale on Saturday, May 31 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Hands-on instruction will be taught using the mature gardens planted and maintained by the Mountaindale Action Committee, the hamlet’s volunteer beautification group. The instructor will be Sullivan Renaissance horticulture coordinator Diana K. Weiner.

This is the first event of the “Celebrate Sullivan Spaces” campaign, which promotes education and community engagement in Sullivan County’s public spaces. All events take place in parks and gardens that are cared for by volunteers.

The event begins at the Signal House, at the corner of Main Street and Quiat Road. No experience is necessary. Gloves and tools will be available but individuals are asked to bring their own pruning shears if they have them. Refreshments will be provided.

RSVP to 845/295-2445 or visit SullivanRenaissance.org.
