GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — The Time and the Valleys Museum announced the upcoming exhibition “Celebrating Catskill Waters: Past and Present,” which will open at the museum in early July. Many individuals, museums, historical societies and municipalities in Sullivan County are joining together to create this collaborative exhibition on water recreation in the county, including fishing, swimming and boating, over the past 150 years.

The exhibition will run through the end of 2014. It will include photos, video, artifacts and fun activities celebrating the enjoyment water brings to the lives of both local residents and visitors to Sullivan County. “This is the first time so many individuals and historical organizations in Sullivan County have joined together to create an exhibition,” said Donna Steffens, director of the Time and the Valleys Museum.

There is still time for interested individuals, towns and historians to join in this exhibition. “There are a few towns and town historians who are not yet involved, and we would love to have full county-wide participation if possible,” said Steffens. “Those who participate will be fully acknowledged and can leave their brochures for visitors.” Anyone with photos or artifacts of swimming, fishing or boating in Sullivan County, either past or present, is invited to join this exhibition. Call Steffens at 845/985-7700 or email info@timeandthevalleysmuseum.org if you have artifacts or photo to loan, or for more information.
