‘Technology Tuesdays: Robotic milking dairies’
REGION — The Pocono District of Penn State Extension will hold a “Technology Tuesdays: Robotic Milking Edition: Cow Behavior in a Robotic Milking Dairy” free online workshop designed for dairy producers, their employees and advisers on April 29 from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
In a robotic milking dairy, cows are not tied to a regular two-time or three-time milking schedule but are allowed to set their own milking routine throughout the day. Because these systems allow cows to select their milking frequency, the way cows interact with herd mates and with their physical environment will have a great impact on how well the system works. Factors affecting cow behavior, with particular attention to behaviors that affect efficiency of robot use, will be discussed during this webinar.
The presenter is Janice Siegford, Michigan State University. Register online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/TechnologyTuesdays1314 for free, no later than noon the day before.
