Baby it’s cold outside—so much snow and it’s freezing. I do not know how the homeless people do it. If you have an elderly neighbor please check in on them.

I just got off the phone with Joe Manaseri, and he was telling me that Dolores is in the hospital, getting her meds straightened out. Dolores should be home on Tuesday, January 28. He was also telling me that it is 65 degrees and sunny in Florida. Please keep Dolores in your prayers.

January is the only month to pay taxes without penalty. If you mail your tax bill and it’s postmarked by January 31, I can accept it, but if not, you have to pay the February amount. If you did not make a payment in January, you cannot use the payment method, but must pay in full with a 1% penalty or pay in full in March with a 2% penalty and two-dollar service charge. My office hours in February and March will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. If that does not work for you, give me a call and we can work something out. Your best bet is to just stick it in the mail, but remember that the cost of stamps went up to 49 cents as of Monday January 27. (That is crazy; soon it will be two for a dollar.) You can pay your taxes online at www.taxlookup.net with a credit card—full payments only. I can take Visa, Master Card and Discover only, not American Express. There is a 3% charge, plus a 50-cent fee, which goes to the credit card company. You can tell me how funny I am and how pretty my eyes are and flirt with me all you want, but I cannot waive that fee.

Danny Snedeker came in to pay his taxes and we got talking about the Lake Huntington Fire Company, and how they need volunteers. They have their monthly meeting on the first Thursday of every month; if you are interested, give Danny a call at 845/932-8444 or 845/932-8378.

There will be a memorial service for Art Peck on Saturday, February 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Rasmussen’s Funeral Home on Main Street in Narrowsburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Western Sullivan Public Library, 19 Center St., Jeffersonville, NY 12748 or to the Tusten Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 34, Narrowsburg, NY 12764.

Have a great week and email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news.
